Where to Buy Face Paint:
We've researched what moms and professional facepainters say about brands and where to buy face paint, and it seems that Snazaroo comes very highly recommended. Another you can look for in mass retail stores is Elmers.
While tempted by some of the cheaper stuff (ala Dollarama), our reco is that good facepaint can come in handy beyond Halloween so it may be a good idea to spend just a bit more on a brand/product we feel more comfortable painting on the kids' skin.
You can find face paint online and in-store at PartyCity.ca, Target, Michaels, ToysRUs, Walmart
You can also find face painting supplies in any of Toronto's costume supply stores.
The Verdict on Homemade Face Paint:
There are lots of recipes online for homemade face paint, we haven't really tried them out ourselves yet. They look pretty simple, here's a good one other momstown moms have recommended here.
What we found mixed messaging about in different postings is the staining factor on the kids' faces, and if you can get good color coverage. If you have made and used your own, please share your experience! This Halloween's verdict for us, homemade is a fun DIY to make with the kids one day for sure, but for this year we might just stick with a pre-bought kit.
